It refers to biliary tree cancer.

Causes: - Flukes, biliary cysts, Caroli's disease, p250, HBV, biliary enteric drainage surgery.

The patient presents with Fever, abdominal pain, malaise, increased bilirubin, increased alkaline phosphatase.

PATHOLOGY: - Usually slow growing. Most are distal extrahepatic or perihilar.

CAUSES: - Hepatitis B and C, Cirrhosis as a result of drinking excessive amount of alcohol, HIV, diabetes, obesity, smoking.

MANAGEMENT: -

70% are unsuited to surgery. Of those that are,76% recur.

Post-operative complications include: - liver failure, bile leak and G.I bleeding.

SYMPTOMS: -

Pain in abdomen, fever and weakness of whole body, dark urine, pale faeces, weight loss, yellow skin and eyes, light colored and greasy stools.

The most common manifestation of cholangiocarcinoma is Jaundice, in which the skin and whites of the eye turn yellow.

CONCLUSION: -
