A young adult reports with oval/round patches covered by a fine, crinkly scale situated on the trunk has persisted for more than a week or two, and later developed a generalized eruptions. There is a mild itch or no symptoms. It is a case of PITYRIASIS ROSASEA.
The cause is unknown, but some evidence shows the presence of virus.
Pityriasis rosea typically begins with a large, slightly raised, scaly patch — called the herald patch — on back, chest or abdomen. Before the herald patch appears, some people experience headache, fatigue, fever or sore throat.
The exact cause of pityriasis rosea is unclear. Some evidence indicates the rash may be triggered by a viral infection, particularly by certain strains of the herpes virus. But it's not related to the herpes virus that causes cold sores. Pityriasis rosea isn't believed to be contagious.
Complications of pityriasis rosea aren't likely. If they do occur, they may include:

Arsenicum album skin is dry, dirty, shriveled with parchment like look. The eruptions are papuylar, dry, rough, scaly and worse from cold and scratching. After itching there is burning followed by swelling. Spots are blue black in colour.
Flouricum acidum is specially suited to chronic disease with a syphilitic and mercurial history. Complaints of old age; deep destructive processes. Skin is dry, cracked, harsh, itchy. Burning pains is small spots of skin.
Kalium arsenicum is more indicated in inveterate skin diseases. Intolerable itching; dry, scaly and wilted skin; itching worse from warmth and change in weather. Numerous small nodules under the skin.
Mezereum has intorelable itching and chilliness with pruritus, worse in bed. Eruptions ulcerate and form thick scabs, there is purulent exudates from below the scabs; pains are worse at night.
Sepia officinalis has ringworm like eruptions every spring. Offensive odour of the skin.
