INTERSTITIAL GRANULOMATOUS DERMATITIS (IGD)

Is a rare skin condition that falls under the category of granulomatous dermatitis, which involves the formation of granulomas in the skin. Granulomas are small nodules or masses that form as a result of the body's immune response to certain triggers or stimuli.

 CAUSE OF INTERSTITIAL GRANULOMATOUS DERMATITIS

  • Idiopathic
  • Medications: Certain drugs have been linked to the development of IGD. For example, antihypertensive medications like angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors have been reported to trigger the condition in some cases.
  • Connective tissue diseases: IGD may be associated with underlying autoimmune conditions such as systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) or rheumatoid arthritis.
  • Infections: In rare cases, infections, such as bacterial or fungal infections, may be associated with the development of IGD.

SIGN AND SYMPTOMS OF INTERSTITIAL GRANULOMATOUS DERMATITIS:

  • Reddish-brown or violaceous (purple) patches or nodules on the skin.
  • These lesions can be solitary or multiple and may be tender or itchy.

DIAGNOSIS:

interstitial granulomatous dermatitis involves a skin biopsy, where a small piece of affected skin is removed and examined under a microscope. The presence of granulomas in the dermis confirms the diagnosis.

FEW HOMOEOPATHIC MEDICINE FOR INTERSTITIAL GRANULOMATOUS DERMATITIS:

Rhus toxicodendron: Used for conditions like eczema, itching, and hives, especially when the skin worsens with cold and damp weather, and improves with warmth.

Graphites: Indicated for dry, rough, and cracked skin, eczema with oozing, and slow-healing ulcers.
