CONGENITAL CENTRAL HYPOVENTILATION SYNDROME

 It is a rare congenital respiratory system disorder caused by mutation in gene PHOX2B. The PHOX2B Gene is basically making a protein which is important for development of nerves and neurons. There is increase in carbon dioxide level in blood and decrease in oxygen, causing shortness of breath and hypoventilation especially during sleep. As Autonomic Nervous System has fully control on the Respiratory system normally, there will be grasping for breath and search for more ventilation. As the nerve is not functioning, the signal is not transferred to brain.

SIGN AND SYMPTOMS

  • Shortness of breath
  • Cyanosis
  • Arrhythmias
  • Facial dysmorphisms.
  • Absence of bowel movement.
  • Abnormal pupil.
  • Low sensitive to pain and temperature.
  • Sometime heavy sweating.
  • Neurofibromatosis.

ARALIA RACEMOSA: When there is asthma or breathing difficulty on lying down at night with spasmodic cough which get worse after first sleep, with tickling in throat. Constriction of chest; feels as if a foreign body were in throat. ARALIA RACEMOSA will help the patient much.

AMMONIUM CARBONICUM: which is situated to stout women who are always tired and weary, take cold easily, sedentary life, have a slow reaction generally using inhaler for breathing difficulty. Fat patients with weak heart, wheezing, feel suffocated. The breathing problem is worse in warm room, exertion and ascending stars. The breathing is slow labored and having bubbling sound.

ARSENICUM ALBUM: One of the most effective medicine in breathing difficulty is Arsenicum Album where the symptoms like Unable to lie down, fears suffocation. Air-passages constricted. Asthma worse midnight. Darting pain through upper third of right lung. Wheezing respiration. Generally better from warm. Unquenchable thirst. Fear fright and worry. Degenerative changes.

SYPHILINUM Aphonia; chronic asthma in summer, wheezing and rattling.  Cough dry, hard; worse at night; windpipe sensitive to touch. Lancinating pains from base of heart to apex at night. Pains from darkness to daylight; decrease and increase gradually Loss of memory; remembers everything previous to his illness. Craves alcohol.
