LICHEN URTICATUS

Also known as papular urticaria, is due to hypersensitivity to the antigens introduced during insect bites in children between 2-7 years of manifests as recurrent eruption of irritable papules, which may age be grouped in irregular clusters. In some children urticarial wheals may on the top occur and at some stage one may see occurrence of papules of a wheal at the site of the bite. These lesions are frequently seasonal in nature. As the child grows, he stops developing these lesions which are thought to be due to the development of hypo-sensitisation through repeated bites.

MANAGEMENT:

Patient should be removed from the atmosphere or alternatively he should guard himself from insect bites by his body with full-sleeve, high-neck clothes and using insect repellant where the body cannot be covered by clothes.

HOMOEOPATHIC TREATMENT:

Apis. is given in most of the cases. It reduces pain. redness and swelling. It is used in lower dilution and in frequent doses. For insect bites and bee stings Sempervivum tectorum is used locally as tincture or fresh juice of the plant. For the hypersensitivity to insect bite (lichen urticatus)
