OCULAR MIGRAINE

It is an episode of loss of vision in one eye, usually lasting less than one hour and is associated with a headache.

“Ocular Migraine” is a term that has been used to refer to a number of migraine subtypes that are characterized by a variety of visual disturbances including visual loss, blind spots, zig-zag lines, or seeing stars.

SYMPTOMS:

• A blind spot in the central area of vision which can start small and get larger.
• It usually lasts less than 50 minutes.
• Usually presents in one eye.
• It can also affect the peripheral (side) vision.

RISK FACTORS :

• More common in women than men.
• Most common from age 30-39.
• Family history of migraine.

TRIGGER POINTS :

 stress, hormonal changes, flashing lights, drinking alcohol , changes in the weather, skipping meals, or too much or too little sleep.

HOMOEOPATHIC MANAGEMENT:

CANNABIS S- patient feels deeply approaching blindness. Misty sight. Pressure from back of eyes, forward. Gonorrhśal ophthalmia. Eyeballs ache

NATMUR-  zigzag appearance around all objects. Burning in eyes. Give out on reading or writing. Pain in eyes when looking down, Blinding headache. Aches as if a thousand little hammers were knocking on the brain, in the morning on awakening.

Chronic headache, semi-lateral, congestive, from sunrise to sunset, with pale face, nausea, vomiting; periodical; from eyestrain; menstrual. Before attack, numbness and tingling in lips, tongue and nose, relieved by sleep.

GRAPHITES- with intolerance of artificial light,  Headache in morning on waking, mostly on one side, with inclination to vomit. Sensation of cobweb on forehead. Feels numb and pithy.

LACHESIS- Pain through head on awaking. Pain at root of nose. Pressure and burning on vertex. Waves of pain; worse after moving. Sun headaches. With headache, flickerings, dim vision, very pale face. Vertigo. . Sensation as if eyes were drawn together by cords which were tied in a knot at root of nose.

IGNATIA- spasms of lids and neuralgic pain about eyes (Nat m). Flickering zigzags
