STIFFNESS IN YOUR JAW

Jaw stiffness is often associated with pain, tenderness, or swelling, and be caused by a variety of conditions, including anatomy, inflammation-related causes, trauma-related causes, or excess stimulation.

Jaw stiffness is a very uncomfortable feeling that often affects essential movements such as eating and speaking.

SYMPTOMS:

  • Pain or tenderness
  • Swelling
  • Redness or warmth to the touch
  • Popping or clicking noises upon movement
  • A locking or catching sensation: Likely making it difficult to open the mouth
  • Difficulty or pain while chewing
  • Fever

CAUSES:

  • temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder
  • Inflammation of the jaw
  • Direct injury to the jaw from a fall or punch to the face 
  • TOOTH ABSCESS

DIAGNOSIS

  • patient history, physical examination, and imaging.
  • X RAY
  • CT SCAN
  • MRI

HOMOEOPATHIC MANAGEMENT:

Few homoeopathic remedy are as followed.

CAUSTICUM -  Useful for TMJ with numbness in face mostly right-side.Given when Jaw becomes rigid with inability to open.Helpful for Jaw locks with raw, burning and sharping pain.

LACHESIS -  Trifacial neuralgia, left side, heat running up into head, Tearing pain in jaw-bones

MER.I.F -  Throat affections, with greatly swollen glands and characteristic coating of tongue. Worse, right side .

RHUS TOX -  Cheek bones sensitive to touch. Parotitis. Facial neuralgia, with chilliness; worse, evening .

STRYCHNINE –   Jaws stiffened; lower jaw spasmodically closed.

COLCHICUM -   Pain in facial muscles, moving about. Tingling and śdematous swelling; cheeks red, hot, sweaty. Very irritable with the pains (Cham). Pain behind angle of right lower jaw.
